Summer Program

Oliver Scholars attend two Summer Immersion Programs: one between 7th and 8th grade and one between 8th and 9th grade. These programs are designed to develop the academic, social, and leadership skills the Scholars will need to succeed in independent schools.

Summer Immersion Program I
An intensive five-week preparatory course designed to develop the academic and social skills of rising eighth graders. The program is held at a local independent day school for the first four weeks; the final week is held in-residence at a boarding school.

Candidates chosen to be part of the Oliver Scholars Program must complete the Summer Immersion Program I in order to receive high school placement assistance through Oliver.  Completing the rigorous but enjoyable program indicates the student is ready to take on the challenges that lie ahead when accepted to a leading independent school.  Completing the program depends on good attendance, strong motivation, willingness to learn, as well as general behavior and attitude.

Summer Immersion Program II
A five-week follow-up program to Summer Immersion Program I for rising ninth graders. The program emphasizes strong academic, social and leadership skills in order to foster a successful transition to an independent school.
